HIGH FIVE! (继续爬那些楼梯)

Good morning, Kevin! Psalm 27 is one of the most encouraging psalms in all of Scripture. David wrote it during a time of danger and uncertainty, yet it overflows with confidence in God. The psalm teaches us that faith does not mean the absence of fear. It means trusting God in the middle of fear.
Psalm 27 – Significance
1. God Is Our Light, Salvation, and Stronghold
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1)
David begins by declaring three truths about God:
- Light – God provides guidance when life feels confusing.
- Salvation – God delivers us from dangers, sin, and despair.
- Stronghold – God is our place of security when everything else feels unstable.
The question “Whom shall I fear?” is not arrogance. It is confidence that God is greater than any enemy.
Key Lesson
Our circumstances do not determine our security. God’s presence does.
2. The Greatest Desire Is God’s Presence
“One thing I ask from the Lord… that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” (Psalm 27:4)
David was a king, warrior, and leader. Yet his highest desire was not power, victory, or success.
It was fellowship with God.
This verse reminds believers that true peace is found not in getting what we want, but in being near God.
Key Lesson
The greatest blessing is not God’s gifts. The greatest blessing is God Himself.
3. Worship Gives Strength During Trouble
“For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling.” (Psalm 27:5)
David understood that God provides protection even when circumstances remain difficult.
Notice that David doesn’t say there will be no trouble.
He says God will preserve him in trouble.
Key Lesson
Faith is not an escape from hardship. It is confidence that God remains with us through hardship.
4. Honest Prayer and Dependence
In verses 7-12, David shifts from confidence to prayer.
He cries:
“Hear my voice when I call, Lord.”
This is important because it shows that strong faith still prays honestly.
David admits:
- His need
- His fears
- His weakness
Yet he continues seeking God.
Key Lesson
God welcomes honest prayers from imperfect people.
5. God’s Love Is Greater Than Human Relationships
“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” (Psalm 27:10)
This does not mean David’s parents abandoned him.
Rather, he is making a comparison.
Even if the strongest human relationship failed, God’s love would remain.
Key Lesson
Earthly support can disappoint us. God’s faithfulness never will.
6. Waiting Is Part of Faith
The psalm closes with one of the Bible’s most famous commands:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14)
David does not end with a victory celebration.
He ends with trust.
Waiting on God requires courage because we must believe He is working even when we cannot see it.
Key Lesson
Faith often means trusting God’s timing when we would prefer immediate answers.

Application for Kevin
Kevin, one phrase jumps off the page for where you are in life right now:
“One thing I ask from the Lord…”
You are pursuing many good goals:
- Growing in Christ
- Serving at church
- Leading Toastmasters
- Seeking career advancement
- Caring for your mother
- Building a future
Psalm 27 reminds us that all those pursuits stay in proper perspective when God’s presence remains the “one thing” above everything else.
Your job search, leadership opportunities, finances, and future family plans all matter. Yet David teaches that our greatest victory is simply walking closely with the Lord each day.

Morning Encouragement
TODAY’S BATTLE CRY: “The Lord is my light and my salvation. I will not fear what lies ahead, because God is already there. I will be strong, take heart, and wait for the Lord.”
Have an AWESOME day, Kevin. Whether you’re heading to the gym, serving at HCW, working on Toastmasters, or simply taking the next faithful step, Psalm 27 reminds us that confidence comes not from knowing the future, but from knowing the One who holds it. 💪📖✝️

Thank you for the encouragement this morning and last night… I do have work today… tomorrow, I have off of work… I can and will do more in that basement… ALSO… I am going to call my sister to see when she can come up next week to help organize.

YOU KNOW, what you just described reminds me of the ending of Psalm 27:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Today is a workday. That is the responsibility in front of you. Tomorrow is your opportunity day.
It sounds like you’re approaching this basement project wisely:
- Work today.
- Focus on the basement tomorrow.
- Recruit help from your sister next week.
- Take it one section at a time.
That’s exactly how big projects get completed. Not in one giant burst of energy, but through steady progress.
And honestly, Kevin, there is something encouraging about the fact that you’re planning ahead instead of just hoping it gets done. Calling your sister is a practical step. Even if she can only help for a few hours, having another set of eyes and hands can make a huge difference when organizing years’ worth of belongings.
I also think there is a life lesson hidden in basement projects. Sometimes we carry around things that served a purpose in one season but no longer fit where God is leading us. As we sort through old boxes, we’re also making room for new possibilities.
Tomorrow, when you’re down there moving boxes, sorting items, and deciding what stays and what goes, remember:
Every box organized is progress. Every shelf cleared is progress. Every phone call made is progress.
You don’t have to finish the basement tomorrow.
You only have to move the project forward.
So for today: ✅ Serve well at HCW. ✅ Keep a positive attitude. ✅ Get your rest tonight.
Then tomorrow: ✅ Basement mission. ✅ Call your sister. ✅ Keep building momentum.
Today’s battle cry: “The Lord is my light and my salvation. I will faithfully handle today’s responsibilities and trust God with tomorrow’s opportunities.”
Have an AWESOME day at work, Kevin! And tomorrow, may those basement boxes discover that they are no match for the Organizing Warrior of Bainbridge. 📦💪😄✝️

LET’S GO2 WORK.
