TODAY’S LESSON: Romans 3:19-28

HIGH FIVE! (蓝色真是个很棒的颜色)

The Significance of Romans 3:19-28

Romans 3:19-28 is one of the most important passages in the entire Bible because it explains how a sinner is made right with God. Paul moves from humanity’s problem (sin) to God’s solution (salvation through faith in Jesus Christ).

1. The Law Reveals Guilt, Not Innocence

“Every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” (v.19)

Paul’s message is direct:

  • Nobody can claim righteousness before God.
  • God’s Law exposes sin.
  • The Law acts like a mirror, showing us our condition.

The Law was never given as a ladder to climb into heaven. It was given to reveal our need for a Savior.

Significance: Before God can heal us, we must recognize our need for healing.

2. No One Can Earn Salvation

“By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight.” (v.20)

This verse destroys the idea that people can earn God’s favor through:

  • Good works
  • Religious activities
  • Church attendance
  • Generosity
  • Personal morality

Good works are valuable, but they cannot remove sin.

Significance: Salvation is not a reward for good behavior. It is a gift of God’s grace.

3. God’s Righteousness Has Been Revealed Through Christ

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested…” (v.21)

The words “But now” are powerful.

After explaining mankind’s hopeless condition, Paul introduces hope:

God has provided a righteousness apart from human effort.

Jesus succeeded where humanity failed.

Significance: God did not leave humanity trapped in sin. He provided a way of rescue.

4. Faith Is the Means of Receiving Salvation

“Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.” (v.22)

Notice the repeated emphasis:

  • Faith
  • Belief
  • Trust

The issue is not whether someone has sinned.

Paul says:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (v.23)

The issue becomes:

Will you trust Christ?

Significance: The ground is level at the foot of the cross. Everyone needs grace.

5. Justification Is a Free Gift

“Being justified freely by his grace…” (v.24)

Justified means:

Declared righteous before God.

This is not earned.

It is:

  • Free
  • By grace
  • Through Christ’s redemption

Jesus paid the debt we could never pay.

Significance: The believer stands before God not because of personal perfection, but because of Christ’s perfection.

6. Jesus Satisfied God’s Justice

“Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood…” (v.25)

“Propitiation” means Christ’s sacrifice satisfied God’s righteous judgment against sin.

At the cross:

  • God’s justice was upheld.
  • God’s mercy was displayed.
  • Sin was punished.
  • Sinners could be forgiven.

Significance: God remains perfectly just while extending mercy to those who believe.

7. Boasting Is Eliminated

“Where is boasting then? It is excluded.” (v.27)

No Christian can say:

  • “I earned this.”
  • “I deserve heaven.”
  • “I’m better than others.”

Salvation humbles us all.

Significance: Grace leaves no room for pride and every reason for gratitude.

What This Passage Means for Your Life Today

Kevin, Romans 3:19-28 reminds us that our standing with God does not depend on how well we performed yesterday, how many hours we worked at HCW, how well we golfed, or whether we won our fantasy football matchup.

The world says, “Earn your worth.”

God says, “Christ has already provided what you could never earn.”

That doesn’t make us passive. It makes us grateful.

We work, serve, lead, exercise, volunteer, and love others not to gain God’s acceptance, but because we already have it through Christ.

When you step into today, remember this:

Your victory is not built on your performance. Your victory is built on Jesus’ finished work.

YEAH… understood… Little by Little you are letting me learn about her world… TODAY, we have work early… SOLD those Martha Stewart Magazines yesterday… SHIPPING them on Monday… My Mom is going to that Senior Center to hand out that HERSHEY’S Candy that I gave her… I also gave her one of the Halloween Shirts that I got from handing out candy at HCW on the TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL in years past… They used to have a stop in the Tour Ride Que… This stop had a smoke machine! It was awesome using it… ANYWAYS, I AM GOING TO BE LATE… I GOT TO FINISH THIS ENTRY…

YEAH, KEVIN! ☀️

Sounds like you’ve got a good morning rolling, even if the clock is trying to catch you. You sold the Martha Stewart magazines, you’ve got them ready to ship Monday, your mom gets to share some Hershey’s candy at the senior center, and she even has one of those old HCW Halloween shirts. That’s pretty cool. Little things like that often bring more joy than we realize.

And that smoke machine story made me laugh. 🎃

I can picture that Trick or Treat Trail stop in the Tour Ride Queue. A smoke machine can turn an ordinary corner into something memorable. Those are the kinds of moments guests remember years later, even if it seemed like just another shift at the time.

As for Romans 3 this morning:

The Law says, “Look how far you’ve fallen.”
Grace says, “Look how far Christ came to bring you home.”

That’s a pretty good thought to carry into an early workday.

Now go finish that entry and get moving before HCW starts wondering where their dependable nine-year attendance streak guy disappeared to! 😄

HAVE AN AWESOME DAY, KEVIN.

LET’S GO2 WORK.
